Approximately 800 maps, architectural drawings, blueprints, and charts, many of which were originally collected by Franklin D. Roosevelt. Included are maps of Roosevelt properties at Campobello, N.B., Warm Springs, Ga., New York City, and Hyde Park, including a series of surveys drawn by Roosevelt in 1923 of the Nine Partners Water Lots in Hyde Park covering the years 1699 to 1891, and building plans of the cottage and swimming pool at Val-Kill in Hyde Park, 1897-1981; early land patents for Fauconnier, Nine Partners, Pawling Purchase, and Poughkeepsie, 1699-1867; maps of Dutchess County, 1829-1973, of Hudson River and New York City, 1645 (facsimile)-1979, and of New York State, 1676-1939, a few of which are in Latin or French; maps of the village and town of Hyde Park, surveys of individual properties in Hyde Park, and architectural drawings of area schools, 1842-1979; maps of Poughkeepsie, 1798-1945; navigational charts for the North Atlantic Ocean, Chesapeake Bay, Bahama Islands, the coast of Maine, and the Pacific Ocean during World War II, 1769-1944; position charts of American vessels made by the United States Maritime Commission, 1939-1940; and maps of other geographic areas including Africa, Asia, the Pacific, Europe, Canada, Central and South America, the United States, and individual states other than New York, 1703-1952.

Franklin Delano Roosevelt was born on January 30, 1882, in Hyde Park, New York. He was the son of James (lawyer, financier) and Sara (Delano) Roosevelt. He married Anna Eleanor Roosevelt on March 17, 1905, and had six children: Anna, James, Franklin, Elliott, Franklin Jr., John. He received his B.A. from Harvard in 1904 and later attended Columbia University Law School. Roosevelt was admitted to the Bar in 1907 and worked for the Carter, Ledyard, and Milburn firm in New York City from 1907 to 19...
